Welp, I almost made a majority for posts here per day in November. Almost!
Thanksgiving was nice, went to Mom's house and ate until we almost burst. Played Wii Sports for a lot of it, which was a nice way to waste an afternoon! Melody and Todd brought their wee one over, he's so adorable. So in between cute baby and cute doggy, it was pretty um, cute.
Besides some trepidation, I hauled myself out to the Horse Brass on Friday. (Was having one of those nobody likes me everybody hates me wahhhh days.) But it was great, lots of chatting and arguing about Joy Division v New Order and generally being drunk at people. Apparently our bar tab came to 14 pitchers and somewhere around 50-60 pints of beer. For 20. Yikes.
Did nothing all day Saturday, wanted to head to Orycon but couldn't muster the umph. Scowled at the tap every so often as we were under a boil water warning due to E. Coli in the Washington Park reservoir. What the fuck. 3rd world problems! Portland, such a nice place but don't drink the cheesing water.
Went and watched the Wigan v Sunderland match and have a full English breakfast first thing Sunday (first thing meaning 11:30am) with Pip at the Horse Brass again. He wanted to do something that reminded him of home. It was a decent game, but Wigan could not keep control of the ball. Sunderland, if they had a good striker, could be deadly. Wigan ended up winning 1-0, despite their nail biting incompetence.
We also found a place where we could buy Ribena, Aero and chocolate Hobnobs for my Pip. Oh and a little shop over off 82nd and Belmont sells Quality Street in tins. OMG. He was pretty happy. We were volunteering out of 82nd on Sunday afternoon through Hands on Portland. This mission? Sell Christmas trees for
L'Arche Nehalem. We didn't get many in, but we had a good time with what we did sell.
Bought a case of bottled water and discovered the boil warning was lifted.
....
Yeah.
Things are ok. Christmas is creeping up. I want to go look at the pretty trees over in the convention center this weekend!
